Angelus student's helping those in need!

On Thursday March 12, 2009, Mrs. Cathy Gagnon gave a presentation to children in grade 3-8 at Angelus Academy regarding the homeless and a D.C. charity, Martha’s Table. Martha's Table's mission is to help at-risk children, youth, families and individuals in our community improve their lives by providing educational programs, food, clothing, and enrichment opportunities.

Between now and the end of May, Angelus Academy is conducting a cereal drive to collect boxes of cereal for Martha’s Table. This cereal helps Martha’s Table to feed many children over the summer when school-sponsored meals are not available. If the students can collect 350 or more boxes of cereal, students will receive a free dress-down day!

The following information comes from Martha’s Table’s web site, www.marthastable.org.
Martha's Table Children, Youth and Family Programs provide more than 300 children and youths (ages 3 month to 18 years) with nutritious meals and supervised learning and literacy activities in a safe environment throughout the year.

McKenna's Wagon is the charity’s seven-days-a-week mobile soup kitchen, feeding more than 1200 hungry and homeless people at many locations in Washington, DC.

Martha's Outfitters, our newly redesigned clothing center provides free and low cost clothing, linens, toiletries and children's supplies to those in need. All proceeds from sales go to support the children and youth programs.
