On Friday, Dec. 5, Angelus Academy will be celebrating St. Nicholas Day on the vigil of his feast (Dec. 6) and hosting an open house. St. Nicholas is the patron saint of children and famous as a "wonder-worker."

Why not develop a family devotion to this great saint as an "antidote" to the grossly over-commercialized and distorted images of "Santa" peddled in today's popular culture?

For suggestions (and recipes) for celebrating St. Nicholas Day at home, go to: www.stmichaelonline.org/St%20Nick.htm . For a wealth of information about how St. Nicholas Day is celebrated all over the world, go to: http://www.stnicholascenter.org/ (an ecumenical site devoted to increasing devotion to St. Nicholas among Roman Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant Christians)

A PRAYER FOR CHILDREN: God our Father, we pray that through the intercession of St. Nicholas, you will protect our children. Keep them safe from harm and help them grow and become worthy in your sight. Give them strength to keep their Faith in You; and to keep alive their joy in your creation. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
