As you probably know, planning for the 2009 Angelus Academy Dinner
Auction is well underway. This summer, we will all be soliciting items for
the silent and live auctions. There are many ways to fulfill this need for the
development of the auction. You can help!!
Your Contacts
What contacts will you renew or make over the summer who might be
willing to help out? Will you visit your favorite restaurant? Will you
vacation in your favorite spot? Will you make improvements to your home
using contractors and handymen? Will you have your regular coffee at the
same place everyday?
Would you be willing to make an introduction to any of these businesses? If
so, mention Angelus Academy and contact the Auction Committee (details
below) for letters, forms, and follow-up phone calls.
Your Talents
Do you have a talent or vocation that you can share with the Angelus
community? Do you like to garden? Are you handy with a paintbrush or
refinishing furniture? Do you like to provide handyman servies? Do you
sew, quilt, crochet, or knit? Can you babysit or pet sit?
Is your job such that you might be able to offer an item for auction?
Can you craft an item for the auction? Can you offer your services and
talents as a silent auction item? If so, contact us to discuss details of auction
donations.

Your Friends and Family Members
Do you have friends or family members who would like to help our lovely
school? Do you know someone in the hotel or entertainment industries? Do
you know someone with whom people would like to have lunch, sign an
autograph, shadow around on the job, or offer a book, CD, DVD, or tickets
to a show?
Would you be willing to make an introduction on behalf of Angelus
Academy? If so, contact us for letters, forms, and follow-up phone calls.
Your Precious Time
Would you be willing to write letters to local and national corporations,
firms, and businesses? Or could you make follow-up phone calls? Do you
enjoy talking to people in person? Would you be willing to go “door-todoor”
in our local neighborhoods to ask for donations from past and future
benefactors and donors to Angelus Academy?
Can you devote some time to soliciting for the auction? If so, please contact
us for letters, forms, and advice. We need to coordinate our solicitation
efforts to ensure that we do not duplicate our efforts.

Your Volunteer Hours
Do you prefer to stay behind-the-scenes? Would you be willing to craft
baskets from the items donated for the auction? Do you feel comfortable
writing entries for the program and other necessary forms for the silent and
live auctions?

If you are willing and able to perform any of the necessary duties, please
contact Cindy Nolan at 703-644-2964 or cindynolan@verizon.net. We are
looking forward to hearing from you. You will continue to hear from us at
the Auction Committee about jobs we can do over the summer and the
updating of our guest list. Remember, donations are tax deductible, and no
donation is too big or too small!!!
Finally, and most importantly, no effort this large will be possible without
prayer. Please pray for the intercession of St. Raphael for a successful (and
fun) annual auction this fall!!!
